SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 15, 2025 – SIPA is charting the future of refillable PET packaging with the debut of its XTRA 8 rotary blowmolder at Drinktec 2025, introducing an advanced, digitally intelligent platform that blends speed, sustainability, and precision engineering. Designed for the next generation of returnable bottle systems, the XTRA 8 positions SIPA as a frontrunner in the race toward smarter and greener beverage production.

A new generation of performance and flexibility
The XTRA 8 builds on the proven XTRA rotary platform, long recognized for its high-speed efficiency and modular design, but takes it a step further with enhanced energy control, automation, and versatility. At Drinktec, the system will produce the Xrefill bottle — a robust PET container engineered to endure up to 20 refill and rinse cycles while maintaining an internal pressure of 3.5 bars.

To meet the mechanical demands of thick-wall PET packaging, the XTRA 8 uses electrically heated molds reaching up to 110°C, ensuring even heat distribution and precise wall thickness. This technical advancement supports consistent bottle quality across long production runs and opens new possibilities for markets shifting from single-use to returnable PET systems.

Digital intelligence drives process optimization
The true breakthrough of the XTRA 8 lies in its digital ecosystem. Integrated with SIPA’s ECHO platform, the machine provides operators with real-time performance data — from energy consumption to throughput — transforming traditional blowmolding into a transparent, data-driven operation.

Supporting this shift is PROCESS WIZARD, an intelligent setup assistant that automatically defines key process parameters based on each bottle’s geometry and preform design. This reduces setup times and minimizes trial runs, allowing optimal conditions from the first production cycle.

Complementary systems like OVEN PLUS and WATER PLUS bring a new level of temperature and flow precision. OVEN PLUS continuously adjusts preform temperature for uniform heating, while WATER PLUS fine-tunes cooling conditions — both ensuring consistent material performance even during extended operation.

Proactive maintenance and predictive insights
Beyond production, SIPA is embedding reliability at the core of its new machine. A predictive diagnostics module monitors stretch rod motion and stress patterns to anticipate wear before downtime occurs. In tandem, the company’s XPECT vision and measurement tools provide automated inspection of preforms and bottles, adding another layer of quality control that enhances yield and reduces waste.

Sustainability meets circular production
The XTRA 8 is more than an equipment upgrade — it’s a strategic enabler for circular economy goals. By supporting the production of refillable PET bottles like Xrefill, SIPA delivers an environmentally responsible alternative to glass and single-use plastics. Refillable PET offers the durability, safety, and clarity demanded by beverage producers, while significantly lowering the carbon footprint across the packaging lifecycle.

As returnable bottle systems gain traction in global beverage markets, the XTRA 8’s combination of digital precision, energy efficiency, and process intelligence makes it a pivotal solution for manufacturers seeking to scale sustainable operations without compromising speed or quality.
