Chicago – September 28, 2026 -- The Society of Actuaries (SOA) has elected five new Board members and named Sherry Chan, FSA, EA, MAAA, FCA, as President Elect and Vice Chair for the 2026-2027 term, positioning her to become the organization's 79th President and Chair.
Five actuaries join the SOA Board for the 2026-2027 term
The newly elected Board members are Jessica Dang, FSA, FCIA, Ph.D.; Murshid Kuttihassan, FSA, MAAA, CERA, FCIA, FIA, CFA, FRM; Taylor Pickett, FSA, MAAA; Greg Warren, FSA, MAAA, FCA; and Andy Wieduwilt, FSA, MAAA. All will assume duties following the SOA ImpACT Annual Conference at the end of October 2026.
Sherry Chan brings pension and consulting leadership to the incoming presidency
Chan is a Managing Director at EY and previously served as Chief Actuary for New York City and for Ohio's largest public pension systems. She has spent three years on the SOA Board of Directors, co-founded Abacus Actuaries, and held leadership roles at the American Academy of Actuaries.
Ian Duncan takes over as SOA President and Chair
Ian Duncan, Ph.D., FSA, FIA, FCIA, FCA, MAAA, will serve as SOA President and Chair for 2026-2027, while Dave Dillon, FSA, FCA, MAAA, moves into the role of Immediate Past President for the same term.
The SOA represents more than 35,000 actuaries across over 100 countries, making Board and presidential transitions closely watched governance events within the global actuarial profession.
