Sobi Takes 7 Aspaveli/Empaveli Abstracts to ASN Kidney Week

Stockholm – October 19, 2026 -- Sobi will present seven accepted abstracts on Aspaveli/Empaveli (pegcetacoplan) at the American Society of Nephrology (ASN) Kidney Week 2026, running 21–25 October in Denver, Colorado, including two oral and five poster presentations.

Oral sessions report 76-week outcomes in two rare kidney diseases

The two oral presentations cover 76-week outcomes with Aspaveli/Empaveli in C3 glomerulopathy (C3G) and primary immune-complex membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis (IC-MPGN). According to Sobi, the data show maintained proteinuria reduction and stabilised eGFR. The package includes a paediatric subgroup analysis from the VALIANT study and its VALE extension.

Poster programme adds renal safety, treatment experience and phase IV PRISM-C3 data

The five posters address longer-term clinical outcomes, renal safety and treatment experience, alongside the phase IV PRISM-C3 study. Sobi said the programme also includes research on use in kidney transplant recipients.

Lydia Abad-Franch, Head of R&D and Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer at Sobi, said longer-term follow-up deepens understanding of treatment outcomes in C3G and primary IC-MPGN, and that the 76-week analyses, including adolescent findings, build the evidence base for the therapy.

Pegcetacoplan holds first-in-class approvals for C3G and IC-MPGN from age 12

Aspaveli/Empaveli is a targeted C3 and C3b therapy that regulates excessive complement cascade activation. It is the first treatment approved for C3G or primary IC-MPGN in patients aged 12 and older in the United States, the European Union and other countries. It is also approved for adults with paroxysmal nocturnal haemoglobinuria (PNH) in the same jurisdictions.

Sobi holds ex-U.S. rights while Apellis, now part of Biogen, controls the U.S. market

Sobi and Apellis, now part of Biogen, share global co-development rights for systemic pegcetacoplan. Sobi holds exclusive ex-U.S. commercialisation rights, while Apellis holds exclusive U.S. rights for the systemic formulation and worldwide commercial rights for ophthalmological pegcetacoplan, including for geographic atrophy.
