Starkville, Miss. – October 02, 2026 -- Southwire has broken ground on a $256 million expansion of its Starkville manufacturing plant, adding approximately 380,000 square feet and creating about 130 new jobs.

Company and community representatives gathered on October 1 to mark the start of construction on the project, which will expand the Starkville location's footprint by roughly 380,000 square feet. The investment reinforces Southwire's manufacturing presence in the region after years of operations at the site.

Expansion targets safety, efficiency and quality upgrades at the plant

Veronica Braker, EVP of Operations at Southwire, said the expansion reflects the company's commitment to building a safer and more efficient environment for its workforce while strengthening its ability to serve customers across its markets. Erik Adams, Starkville Plant Manager, said the project will create new career opportunities for current and future team members and support continued growth at the facility.

Full capacity expected online by 2028

Construction is slated to begin in late 2026, with the expanded facility reaching full operating capacity in 2028. Southwire, a $9.7 billion wire and cable manufacturer with more than 9,000 employees globally, supplies building wire and cable, metal-clad cable, utility products, and OEM wire products across North America.
