Dallas-Plano, Texas – September 22, 2026 -- Sportball is opening its first corporate-operated location in the United States in Dallas-Plano this fall, marking a shift from a two-decade-old franchise-only U.S. model to direct company operations. The Canadian youth sports company will also add a new franchise in Frisco-McKinney, expected to open in early 2027.
Dallas-Plano becomes Sportball's U.S. testing ground for new programming
Sportball has operated in the U.S. via franchises since 2005 but has not previously run a company-owned site domestically. The Dallas-Plano location will trial new classes, formats and experiences before rolling successful concepts out across the broader franchise network. Its inaugural season launches October 10, 2026, with parent-and-child classes for ages 16 months to 3 years and drop-off classes for ages 3 to 5, followed by expanded multi-sport programs and camps for children up to age 12. Programming will initially run at Liberty Recreation Centre, Plano Day School and Little Marvels Montessori.
Texas becomes a focal point with six locations after the two openings
The Dallas-Plano and Frisco-McKinney sites add to four existing Sportball locations in Texas, including Austin, Katy, North Houston and San Antonio East. Company leadership points to a gap in the state's youth sports market: while Texas leads the nation in high school athletics participation, only 51% of children ages 6 to 17 participate in a sports team or lessons, compared with 56.7% nationally, according to the National Survey of Children's Health.
