Houston – – September 28, 2026 -- Submer Group has launched Corenix, a modular data center infrastructure company targeting neoclouds, hyperscalers, and AI operators, and named former Johnson Controls executive Martin Renkis as chief executive.
Corenix builds AI data center modules on NVIDIA reference designs
Corenix designs, manufactures, and factory-tests complete data center modules covering IT, power, cooling, and networking before shipping them to project sites for installation, commissioning, and operational readiness. The company positions itself at the deployment layer of AI infrastructure, offering a single accountable team from factory integration through on-site go-live.
Submer Group cites a nine-month, hundreds-of-megawatt campus buildout as proof point
Corenix draws on Submer Group's track record in high-density thermal engineering and modular delivery, including a campus with hundreds of megawatts of capacity delivered as a fully modular compute buildout in nine months from order to delivery, alongside more than a decade of liquid cooling engineering experience.
Corenix joins Rubix Data Centers and Radian Arc under Submer Group's stack
Corenix operates alongside two other Submer Group units: Rubix Data Centers, which develops and operates AI data center campuses, and Radian Arc, which provides GPU-as-a-Service and AI-as-a-Service. Submer Group CEO Patrick Smets said the new unit responds to demand for "a faster, more predictable way to build" AI factory capacity.
Renkis brings Johnson Controls AI infrastructure background to the new venture
Renkis previously served as executive director of Data Center Infrastructure Services at Johnson Controls, where he developed AI infrastructure offerings spanning power, cooling, heat recovery, operations, and financing. He founded Smartvue, an IoT hardware and software company acquired by Johnson Controls, and Trainersoft, an e-learning software firm acquired by OutStart, now part of IBM.
Corenix commits to fixed go-live dates before contracts are signed
Renkis said Corenix will provide customers a dated program and go-live date before a contract exists, with one team remaining accountable from factory testing through on-site commissioning to support current and future accelerated computing systems.
Corenix is headquartered in Houston, Texas. Submer Group, founded in Barcelona in 2015, operates globally with hubs in Houston and Taipei, and reports having deployed more than 500 MW of liquid-cooled infrastructure and holding over 8 GW of powered land across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC.
