Sungrow Launches PowerHarbor Home Battery System in Benelux

Amsterdam – September 23, 2026 -- Sungrow brought its all-in-one residential energy storage system, PowerHarbor, to the Benelux market for the first time at a dealer event that drew roughly 150 installers, distribution partners and VPP integrators.

Netherlands' net-metering exit reshapes storage economics

The Dutch government will end net metering on January 1, 2027, raising the value of self-consumption for solar households across the country. Dynamic electricity pricing and grid constraints are pushing installers and homeowners to prioritize when energy is used and stored rather than simply how much is generated.

PowerHarbor combines inverter, battery and backup in one unit

PowerHarbor supports PV-to-battery charging up to 160% of rated capacity, allowing the battery to absorb more solar output that would otherwise be curtailed or exported at low value. Its 0.66P discharge rate enables rapid response to household demand shifts and VPP dispatch signals, while 10-12 kW models support up to 150% three-phase unbalanced output for homes running heat pumps and EV chargers simultaneously. The system ships with iHomeManager Mini, which Sungrow describes as the industry's first Mini AI solution, using weather forecasts, consumption patterns and dynamic tariffs to automate charge and discharge decisions.

Installation time drops with plug-and-play modular design

PowerHarbor's blind-mate module connections take about 10 seconds each, and all external wiring terminals are positioned on one side of the unit. The accompanying 5-in-1 EnergyBridge gateway is up to 99% smaller by volume than conventional gateways, fits inside a standard distribution box, and installs in around 20 seconds without wall damage. At 25.5 cm deep, the unit fits narrow corridors, and the integrated EMS control eliminates the need for a separate control box.

PowerKeeper targets businesses constrained by grid connection size

Sungrow also showcased PowerKeeper, a modular commercial and industrial storage series designed to keep peak site draw within an existing grid connection while running self-consumption and arbitrage in parallel. The system has already been deployed in the UK and Italy, letting businesses scale storage capacity with site needs rather than oversizing to a fixed product.

MiniCube offers apartments a lower-cost storage entry point

For space-constrained homes, Sungrow presented MiniCube, a compact plug-and-play micro storage unit delivering 3.68 kW of power output and 5-10 kWh of capacity.

Nick Vriend, Energy Systems Advisor at Zonzo Duurzame Energie, who has installed PowerHarbor, said installer time rather than hardware has become the bottleneck in the Dutch home battery market, and that the system's design addresses that constraint directly.

Jerry Zhang, Benelux Country Manager at Sungrow, said the company is building its portfolio around an integrated model connecting generation, storage, consumption, backup and intelligent energy management as the Benelux residential market shifts from maximizing solar generation to maximizing the value of each kilowatt-hour. Sungrow operates two R&D centers, seven warehouses and three training and technology competence centers across Europe.
