Cancún, Mexico – September 17, 2026 -- Sunset World Group will launch a formal partnership with recycling non-profit ECOCE on September 15, 2026, to align its hotel operations with Mexico's Circular Economy Law.
Sunset World Group commits to circular economy standards across its hotel portfolio
The agreement targets the integration of processes that meet the principles and standards set by the Circular Economy Law, covering resource use, waste reduction, and reintroduction of materials into production cycles. Sunset World Group operates six hotels across Cancun and Playa del Carmen.
ECOCE brings waste management expertise to the hospitality group's sustainability push
ECOCE is a Mexican civil association focused on proper waste management and recycling culture. Under the partnership, Sunset World Group will strengthen waste separation, handling, and recovery procedures at its properties, alongside internal awareness efforts on reducing, reusing, and recycling among employees, members, and guests.
Initiative builds on prior energy efficiency and renewable power investments
Sunset World Group has previously implemented an Energy Efficiency Program that substituted supply technologies across its five Cancun and Playa del Carmen hotels. Its properties draw clean and renewable energy from Mexican wind farms and geothermal plants, a measure the company states has reduced its carbon footprint.
The ECOCE partnership is positioned by Sunset World Group as a further step toward embedding responsible resource management practices into its tourism operations, with the aim of ensuring better oversight of materials and supplies used across its hotel operation.
