Supabase Raises $150M, Acquires Turso to Scale Agentic Databases

San Francisco – October 02, 2026 -- Supabase has raised $150 million in new funding led by GIC, with Alphabet's independent growth fund CapitalG, IronArc, and SquarePeg also participating, just four months after closing a $500 million Series F round. Alongside the raise, the open source Postgres development platform announced it is acquiring Turso, a database platform built to handle high-volume provisioning for agentic workloads.

Supabase now adds 1 million users and 4 million databases every month

Seventy percent of those new databases are created by agents or AI-driven tools rather than human developers, the company said. The figure follows a 600% year-over-year increase in database creation reported in June, when agent-driven deployments had already become the majority on the platform.

Paul Copplestone, Co-founder and CEO of Supabase, said the past year marked the company's fastest growth period to date. He said CapitalG's ties to the broader Alphabet ecosystem would support the company's next growth phase, and that Turso's architecture would help Supabase scale as a backend platform for agent-driven software.

Turso brings low-cost, per-agent database provisioning to Supabase's stack

Turso's technology allows platforms to launch large numbers of isolated databases on demand, in both public cloud and bring-your-own-cloud (BYOC) environments, without provisioning a dedicated machine for each instance. Its customer base includes Superhuman, Sauna.ai, CTO.new, and Mastra. The Turso platform will continue operating independently, with a defined migration path into the Supabase ecosystem.

Turso founder Glauber Costa will join Supabase as Head of Agentic Services, alongside co-founder Pekka Enberg and the rest of the Turso team. Costa said his goal has been to serve upwards of a billion databases to customers, a target he said becomes more attainable within Supabase's developer base and partner ecosystem.

Funding round also provides liquidity for Supabase employees

The company said the liquidity component reflects a priority on retaining engineering talent. Derek Zanutto, general partner at CapitalG, described Supabase as one of the fastest-growing private database companies, citing its role in enabling both developers and autonomous agents to build applications at scale.
