Taiwan Tourism Wraps LA Workshop, Courts 70 SoCal Travel Agents

Los Angeles – September 25, 2026 -- The Taiwan Tourism Administration (TTA) closed its three-city U.S. workshop series on Sept. 18 in Los Angeles, linking nearly 70 Southern California travel professionals with Taiwanese travel agencies, hotels and airlines for direct business meetings.

US arrivals to Taiwan hit a record 710,000 in 2025

More than 710,000 U.S. visitors traveled to Taiwan in 2025, with nearly 60% citing tourism as their primary purpose -- a record for the destination. The market is backed by over 200 weekly round-trip flights connecting Taiwan to 13 major North American cities.

Workshop series ran through three US markets in one week

The LA stop capped a Sept. 14-18, 2026 tour that also hit New York and Chicago, giving Taiwanese suppliers concentrated access to U.S. trade buyers across three metro markets in five days. "Taiwan offers visitors a unique balance of tradition and modernity," said Jason Ma, Director General of the Taiwan Mission in Los Angeles, adding that the agency aims to deepen bilateral tourism cooperation.

TTA pitches 'Never Sleep' concept to extend visitor stays

The event promoted Taiwan's "Never Sleep" positioning, spanning morning markets, breakfast culture, Michelin-recognized dining and night markets, alongside newly introduced products built around nighttime exploration and sunrise excursions. "By encouraging travelers to stay longer, return to Taiwan and explore beyond their previous itineraries, we hope to introduce visitors to new sides of Taiwan," said Vivian Lin, Director of the TTA's Los Angeles Office.

Repeat visitors return to pre-pandemic share of arrivals

Repeat visitors made up 42.25% of Taiwan's international arrivals in 2025, matching the pre-pandemic benchmark set in 2019. Starting Oct. 10, 2026, eligible repeat travelers can enter the "Return to Taiwan, Double Your Luck" program for a chance to win a NT$5,000 travel spending credit, plus an additional NT$3,000 for an accompanying friend or relative.

Cultural programming anchored the trade event

The workshop also featured Taiwan Tourism Ambassador Chen Ming-Chu, a cross-genre Taiwanese opera performance by Tsai Yu-Lun, and a Cha San Dai tea experience for attending trade professionals.
