Chicago – September 23, 2026 -- Fifty-six Taiwanese manufacturers closed out the Taiwan Flagship Showcase at IMTS 2026 with a metal processing exhibitor securing direct alignment with a U.S. manufacturer needing local service capabilities for overseas operations, opening a long-term entry point into the semiconductor supply chain.

TAITRA draws 250-plus attendees to Chicago networking events

The Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) ran the showcase September 14–19 at McCormick Place, drawing more than 250 combined attendees to its opening ceremony and Taiwan Night event. Representatives from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, the Association for Manufacturing Technology, Siemens and HEIDENHAIN attended alongside trade press including Machine Design and Cutting Tool Engineering.

Live demonstrations target semiconductor and automation buyers

T-Sense presented a fully waterproof CNC tool setter, Syntec displayed an industrial robot, and Tenpro showcased a tool management system, each drawing sustained crowds through the week. Seminars covered aerospace applications, semiconductor applications and smart components, framing conversations around sourcing strategy rather than single-product sales.

A non-semiconductor firm pivots into chip-sector grinding solutions

One Taiwanese company operating outside the semiconductor industry adapted its technology through a new U.S. partnership to deliver grinding solutions, extending its addressable market into chip manufacturing. Buyers at the event specifically flagged interest in semiconductor and precision equipment components, along with direct U.S.-based partnerships and joint ventures.
