Guangzhou – November 06, 2026 -- TCL CSOT has begun moving core production equipment into its t8 plant in Guangzhou, a RMB 29.5 billion ($ amount not stated) 8.6-generation inkjet printing OLED (IJP OLED) line that the company describes as the world's first of its kind. Equipment move-in began on October 31, and mass production is expected in the fourth quarter of 2027.
Line is designed for 22,500 substrates a month
The t8 line has a designed monthly capacity of about 22,500 glass substrates, each measuring roughly 2,290 mm x 2,620 mm. It will mainly produce displays for tablets, laptops and monitors, with scope to expand into flexible and foldable panels.
Main structure topped out in 226 days
Construction started on September 16, 2025. The main factory structure was topped out in 226 days. The project now moves through production line installation, integrated commissioning of power systems and process validation.
Feng Zhang, Senior Vice President of TCL CSOT, said the move-in of the first piece of core equipment marks the transition to installation and commissioning. He said the company aims to make t8 a new benchmark for safety, quality and efficiency.
Inkjet deposition targets higher material utilization
IJP OLED uses on-demand deposition to place organic light-emitting materials onto glass substrates. TCL CSOT says this achieves higher material utilization than traditional vacuum thermal evaporation (VTE), making production greener and more efficient.
Wuhan G5.5 line preceded Guangzhou scale-up
TCL CSOT's G5.5 line (t12) in Wuhan was the first IJP OLED mass production line. Weiran Cao, General Manager of the company's IJP-OLED Middle Platform, said the company has spent 13 years taking the technology from the laboratory to the production line. TCL CSOT plans to expand the sizes and applications of its OLED portfolio as t8 progresses toward mass production.
