Atlanta – September 23, 2026 -- Altitude by Geotab has secured a four-year statewide contract with the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT), granting the agency full access to its commercial-vehicle data analytics suite for freight planning and infrastructure investment decisions.

The agreement, procured through the Eastern Transportation Coalition (TETC), provides TDOT with origin-destination matrices, truck parking demand analytics, and corridor flow data specific to commercial freight movement across the state's highway network.
Freight bottleneck mitigation targets high-priority Tennessee interchanges
TDOT will use the platform to analyze delay-minutes per truck by time of day at critical interchanges, aiming to resolve data gaps that traditional travel surveys have left unaddressed. The agency will also apply Segment Flow OD analysis along major corridors to establish pre-deployment baselines and evaluate post-construction impacts.
Fifteen rest areas targeted for truck parking capacity upgrades
Altitude's analytics will evaluate dwell times, demand curves, and capacity stress indicators across 15 identified rest areas slated for upgrades or new construction, addressing truck parking shortages along key freight corridors.
Vehicle-class VMT data will calibrate TDOT's statewide travel model
The platform delivers commercial-vehicle-specific Vehicle Miles Traveled data by vehicle class and ground-truth trip generation figures, which TDOT will use to calibrate and validate its statewide Travel Demand Model.
"Modernizing Tennessee's transportation infrastructure requires precise, real-world data on commercial freight movements and traffic patterns across our key corridors," said Dan Pallme, Director of Passenger Transportation, Rail, and Freight at TDOT. He said the granularity of the data will materially improve travel model calibration, freight bottleneck mitigation, and corridor planning statewide.
Contract follows earlier Geotab fleet management deployment across TDOT vehicles
The analytics agreement builds on a prior Geotab deal covering fleet management technology for TDOT's operational state vehicles, extending the company's relationship with Tennessee from fleet operations into large-scale transportation planning data.
