Dallas – September 23, 2026 -- TGI Fridays has signed a development agreement with Meerab Hospitality to scale to 15 restaurants across Pakistan, marking the brand's second market signing this month as it pursues a global target of 1,000+ restaurants and $2 billion in annual revenue by 2030.
First flagship restaurant targets Lahore's Hyatt Regency within 12 months
Meerab Hospitality, the franchise and development arm of Meerab Properties, plans to open its first TGI Fridays location at the Hyatt Regency Hotel complex in Lahore within the next 12 months. The company will develop restaurants across Pakistan over the next decade through a mix of company-owned and approved sub-franchised units, according to Pervaiz Iqbal Shahid, Founder and Group CEO of Meerab Properties.
Pakistan's 240 million population and median age of 21 drive expansion rationale
TGI Fridays cited Pakistan's population of more than 240 million and a median age of just 21 as key factors behind the agreement, alongside rapid urbanization and continued investment in malls and mixed-use retail destinations. Phil Broad, Global President of TGI Fridays, said the company selects markets based on fundamentals and partner fit rather than a fixed expansion list, pointing to Meerab Hospitality's two-decade operating track record across the Middle East, South Asia and Central Asia.
Deal follows nearly 200 restaurants added to global pipeline over the past year
The Pakistan agreement follows TGI Fridays' first-ever entry into the Balkans earlier this month and adds to a string of international signings over the past year spanning Kenya, the Maldives, Peru, Japan, Mexico, the Philippines, Greece, Cyprus and Spain. Collectively, these agreements have added close to 200 restaurants to the brand's global development pipeline. TGI Fridays currently operates nearly 400 restaurants across almost 40 countries, supported by global hubs in Dallas, Dubai and London.
