AT&T Sells Mexico Unit to Televisa, Fintech Holdings for $2B
Dallas – October 13, 2026 -- AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) has agreed to sell AT&T Mexico to Grupo Televisa and Fintech Holdings for $2 billion in cash at closing, subject to certain adjustments, plus additional contractual and contingent benefits.
AT&T redirects capital to U.S. fiber and 5G networks
The divestiture concentrates AT&T's capital allocation on its U.S. fiber and wireless networks. Chairman and CEO John Stankey said the company believes the AI future will run on converged networks with dense fiber assets, and that the sale fits its strategy of focusing capital on growth opportunities in the U.S. market.
AT&T said its effort to consolidate and modernize what it describes as Mexico's second scaled wireless network has prepared the unit for its next growth phase. The company argues that a local operator is best placed to pursue that phase and improve the overall customer value proposition.
