Third Wave Innovations Drops Level 1 Triage With Wirespeed ADR

Texas – October 17, 2026 -- Third Wave Innovations, a Texas-based managed security service provider (MSSP), has eliminated dedicated Level 1 analyst triage from its core business after adopting Wirespeed Automated Detection and Response (ADR). The platform now filters background noise so the team receives only one or two meaningful items per week.

Legacy SIEM and XDR stack capped the MSSP's growth

Third Wave, which has served small and midsized businesses for nearly a decade, hit an operational ceiling while planning to expand its managed security offerings. Its heavy security information and event management (SIEM) and extended detection and response (XDR) architecture was complex and dependent on correlation. Analysts spent billable hours working through high-volume, low-context alerts and chasing minor events regardless of actual risk.

Because the tools relied on technical logging data, analysts could not show business owners how a system flaw translated into corporate liability, insurance requirements or regulatory compliance. Operators were left identifying problems and handing them to clients to fix.

Transparent logging let analysts wind down manual verification

Third Wave tested Wirespeed across several highly customized client environments. The platform's logging showed analysts the reasoning behind each decision. As the team trusted its independent containment actions, Third Wave phased out manual verification loops.

Patrick Hayes, CXO and Field CISO, said the platform turned the "alert waterfall" into "an eyedropper."

Level 2 operators move into advisory roles

With triage automated, Third Wave has moved its Level 2 operators from closing tickets to external threat hunting and network segmentation design. They also help clients defend against lateral movement and business email compromise.

The MSSP now frames security for clients in terms of risk profile, insurability, recovery speed and financial recovery rather than as an abstract IT expense. Third Wave says it now scales by advising on financial liability and recoverability instead of adding human triage capacity.
