UKG Opens Workforce Platform to Anthropic, Gemini, OpenAI Assistants

Global – October 17, 2026 -- UKG has announced a headless AI vision that lets employees, managers and leaders start workforce activities from AI experiences including Anthropic, Google Gemini, OpenAI and consumer voice assistants, while its Workforce Operating Platform keeps control of execution.

UKG separates the AI interface from the execution layer

Under the headless approach, the experience where a request begins is decoupled from the platform that carries it out. Through Model Context Protocol tools, pre-built connectors and related technologies, approved AI experiences can reach selected UKG capabilities and trigger workforce workflows.

The UKG platform continues to enforce permissions, policies, approvals and business logic. Customers can build on existing technology investments rather than adopt another standalone application.

Three layers connect workforce data to action

Workforce Experience, powered by the next generation of UKG Bryte, provides conversational access for employees and managers. Workforce Intelligence, powered by the Workforce Intelligence Hub, combines workforce signals, benchmarks, labor market insights and business context. Workforce AI applies agentic workflows and intelligent automation across HR, payroll and workforce management.

Frontline managers and staff are the first target users

Managers can use conversational AI to handle situations such as unexpected absences in retail or demand spikes in healthcare, where availability, skills, qualifications and compliance obligations must be weighed. Employees can check schedules, ask pay questions or submit workforce requests the same way.

CEO Jennifer Morgan links the approach to greater employee agency over schedules, pay, benefits and working lives. Chief Product Officer Suresh Vittal frames enterprise AI as moving beyond answers to action, built on context, authority, action and accountability.

The approach targets AI tool fragmentation

UKG expects organizations to run multiple AI experiences rather than a single interface. By extending selected capabilities to approved AI environments, it aims to keep a consistent operating foundation. Buyers can then judge AI assistants on how well they integrate with the systems that run the business.
