Göttingen, Germany – September 28, 2026 -- University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG) has become the first hospital in Germany and the European Union to deploy MDClone's ADAMS platform, layering advanced data utilization tools onto its existing UMG-MeDIC data integration center.
UMG becomes first EU adopter of internationally deployed ADAMS model
ADAMS is already operational at institutions including UChicago Medicine, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, and Sheba Medical Center. UMG's rollout marks the model's first entry into a German or EU university hospital, building directly on infrastructure established under Germany's national Medical Informatics Initiative (MII).
Platform grants staff direct access to longitudinal clinical data
Authorized UMG personnel will be able to query longitudinal clinical datasets independently within a governed framework, reducing dependence on central IT and analytics teams for individual analyses. UMG intends the platform to accelerate research, refine treatment pathways, support quality improvement, and enable clinical process analysis.
Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Brück, Chairman of the Executive Board and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at UMG, said the institution aims to make its data infrastructure more accessible to staff and to use data to identify improvement areas amid a tightening economic environment for hospitals.
Synthetic data feature targets faster research and stronger privacy protection
ADAMS can generate synthetic datasets derived from real clinical records that preserve statistical properties without exposing actual patient data. UMG says this capability will support research, AI application development and testing, and collaboration with external scientific partners without compromising patient confidentiality.
MDClone frames deal as shift from data provision to active utilization
Bruno Lempernesse, CEO of MDClone, said Germany's Medical Informatics Initiative has built a strong data foundation, and the next step is extracting value from that infrastructure for research and patient care. He noted that international healthcare systems are moving from merely providing data toward organization-wide data utilization, with UMG now leading this transition in Germany and the EU.
UMG-MeDIC, established under the nationwide MII program, will retain its role as the underlying data integration layer, with ADAMS added as a utilization layer intended to extend the impact of prior infrastructure investments beyond individual funding cycles.
