Vaalco Brings Gabon Gas Well Online, Spuds ETSEM-3PH Pilot

Houston – October 12, 2026 -- VAALCO Energy has placed the ETBNM-3 gas-supply well in offshore Gabon on production, securing enough gas for field operations, liftings and power needs and cutting reliance on higher-priced diesel.

ETBNM-3 reservoir quality exceeds pre-drill estimates

The well targets the Dentale D-15 reservoir in the crestal portion of the North Tchibala structure. Vaalco reported strong porosity and permeability and more than 10 meters of net reservoir pay, both above pre-drill estimates.

The well adds no production or sales directly. CEO George Maxwell said it should improve field uptime and could lift output from existing wells over time by displacing diesel.

Shallower D-9 and D-12 intervals show wet gas to light oil

Vaalco is evaluating the potential of shallower pay intervals encountered in the D-9 and D-12 zones, which appear to contain wet gas to light oil. The company gave no volume or flow-rate data for these intervals.

Rig moves to SEENT platform for ETSEM-3PH on July 27

Vaalco moved the rig on July 27 to a new slot on the SEENT platform to drill the ETSEM-3PH pilot hole and development well. The well is planned as a pilot followed by a horizontal Gamba producer near the crest of the central fault block of SE Etame.

The pilot is designed to test the original field Oil Water Contact and the potential of the underlying Dentale formation. A horizontal development well with a 300-meter completion length within the Gamba sands is planned after the pilot.

Maxwell said the company's strategy of growing production, reserves and shareholder value is unchanged.
