Las Vegas – October 04, 2026 -- Vision Group debuted its LiLic Sidecar high-voltage direct current backup system at YOTTA 2026 in Las Vegas on September 29-30, targeting the power demands of high-density AI data centers. The product connects directly to an 800V DC busbar (±400V) and is compatible with the OCP ORV4 open rack standard, positioning it as a backup option for next-generation high-voltage DC architectures.
LiLic Sidecar delivers 1MW discharge power with 60-second backup per cabinet
In a five-module configuration, each LiLic Sidecar cabinet provides 1MW of rated discharge power and at least 60 seconds of backup at a 1MW load. The system uses a hybrid cell design combining lithium-ion capacitors for pulse-cycling with lithium iron phosphate batteries for sustained backup, integrating both functions into a single unit. Hot-swappable modules and an integrated battery management system with DC/DC design reduce external connectors and cabling requirements.
Thermal management combines immersion cooling with cold-plate cooling, using an electrically insulating, flame-retardant coolant to manage heat in high-voltage environments. Tom Qin, Vice President of Strategy and Business Management at Vision Group, said the product marks a new approach to redefining AI data center backup power architecture.
HVDC system already runs at a hyperscale AI data center in Ulanqab
Vision Group's 800V HVDC solution has been deployed at a hyperscale AI data center in Ulanqab, providing operational data to support wider rollout of its high-voltage DC energy storage and backup systems. The company also presented a 72kW battery backup unit featuring a 2RU footprint and 5+1 redundant architecture, with fire safety protections built in at the cell, module, and system levels.
BESS lineup spans 215kWh to 6.48MWh for storage beyond backup
Vision Group's battery energy storage portfolio includes 5.015MWh and 6.48MWh liquid-cooled containers alongside a 215kWh immersion-cooled cabinet. Surplus capacity beyond backup requirements can be applied to peak shaving and valley filling, extending the economic value of integrated backup and storage deployments.
Fire testing of REVO 3.0 battery system underpins safety claims
Qin pointed to a large-scale indoor fire test of Vision Group's REVO 3.0 lithium battery system for UPS applications as evidence of its system-level safety validation under extreme conditions. He said the dynamic nature of AI workloads raises the bar for long-term power system stability, making safety a priority across the product lifecycle rather than a single design feature.
Vision Group names North America a strategic priority market
Qin identified North America as a strategic market for future company focus, citing plans to deepen delivery and service capabilities for global cloud providers and data center operators. Founded in 1994, Vision Group operates in more than 100 countries and regions, with manufacturing in Vietnam and collaborations with Eaton, Vertiv, Schneider Electric, and Delta.
