Wuffes Launches IgY-Powered Dental Powder, Enters $2.59B Pet Oral Care Market

Cheyenne, Wyo. – September 20, 2026 -- Wuffes, the dog supplement brand that has served more than 1.3 million dog parents, has launched a Dental Powder range built on SuperYolkTM IgY Technology, a proprietary ingredient the company says is the first of its kind in the US canine dental supplement market.

New antibody-based mechanism targets gingipain enzyme instead of tartar

Most canine dental supplements on the US market rely on Ascophyllum nodosum kelp to slow plaque via saliva. SuperYolkTM IgY Technology instead uses IgY Egg Powder, an antibody derived from chicken egg yolk, to target gingipain, the bacterial enzyme Wuffes identifies as the primary driver of canine gum degradation, biofilm formation, plaque, tartar and bad breath. The company states the mechanism works physically by binding and clearing target bacteria through normal eating, chemically by disrupting bacterial signalling that allows biofilm to mature, and biologically by selectively targeting harmful bacteria while preserving beneficial oral flora.

Peer-reviewed trial reports 100% improvement in gum bleeding over eight weeks

An 8-week randomised controlled trial of the IgY Egg Powder active found a 100% improvement in occasional gum bleeding, a 91% improvement in gum support markers, and an 83% improvement in occasional gum irritation, according to published, peer-reviewed canine research cited by the company.

Jonny Purcell, CEO of Wuffes, said dental care remains one of the largest unmet needs in dog health, with the new powder tailored by size so different breeds receive concentrations matched to the underlying research. Elizabeth Davis, Director of Product Development at Wuffes, said the category has seen improvements in palatability and packaging but little change in underlying mechanism, and that the new formulation addresses gingipain directly.

US pet dental market set to grow from $2.59 billion to $4.53 billion by 2033

The US pet dental health market was valued at $2.59 billion in 2024 and is projected to reach $4.53 billion by 2033, according to Grand View Research. The American Pet Products Association reports 53% of US dog owners now give their pets vitamins or supplements, following six years of 56% growth in canine supplement adoption. The American Veterinary Dental Society estimates 80% of dogs show signs of oral health deterioration by age three.

Dental Powder ships in four size-matched, GMP-certified formulations

Wuffes Dental Powder launches in Small, Medium, Large and Giant variants calibrated to dog weight, manufactured in the USA under GMP certification, and formulated without kelp, artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. It is the first product in the planned Wuffes Dental Defence SystemTM, a multi-product oral health programme, and debuts the brand's refreshed visual identity ahead of a full rebrand reveal in coming weeks.

Retail footprint expands to five national chains within twelve months

The launch follows Wuffes' 2026 expansion into Allergy & Itch Chews and Calming Chews, and coincides with new retail placements at Hollywood Feed, Pet Supermarket, PetSmart, Petco and Tractor Supply Company secured over the past year.
