Avive Deploys Five Connect AEDs at Prisma Health's 36th Walk for Life

San Francisco – October 12, 2026 -- Avive Solutions will supply five Avive Connect AEDs along the course of the 36th Walk for Life & Famously Hot Pink 10K + 5K in Columbia, South Carolina, as the event's first aid sponsor. The race, presented by Prisma Health Midlands Foundation, takes place Saturday, October 17, 2026.

Medical volunteers will carry the defibrillators on the route

Event medical volunteers will carry the five devices along the course, so trained professionals have them at hand during a cardiac emergency. Jeffery Faw, the foundation's Executive Director and Chief Development Officer, said the event draws thousands of participants each year and that the devices give the medical team current technology for such an emergency.

Avive AED weighs 2.1 pounds and uses universal pads

Avive describes its device as the smallest and lightest FDA-approved AED on the market, at 2.1 pounds. It has an intuitive touchscreen, real-time CPR guidance and clear visual instructions, so responders can act without prior training.

Its universal electrode pads work on adults and children, so buyers do not need separate pediatric keys or pads. To treat a child between 1 and 8 years old, responders press the Child button.

Walk for Life has raised more than $13 million over 36 years

The event benefits Prisma Health Breast Centers in the Midlands and aims to raise breast cancer awareness and funds. Proceeds to date exceed $13 million, which has funded digital mammography technology and patient and family programs. A mammography van will be on-site on race day, and community partners will staff informational tables.

This year's proceeds will fund a new Prisma Health Mobile Mammography Van with a 3-D mammography unit, aimed at widening access to care for women and men in urban and rural communities across the Midlands.
