Bank of America Grants $10M for Boston Children's Behavioral Health Campus

Boston – – October 01, 2026 -- Bank of America is providing a $10 million grant to Boston Children's Hospital to fund a new pediatric behavioral health campus at Franciscan Children's in Brighton, a project expected to generate between 150 and 200 permanent jobs and over 3,320 construction jobs.

Grant funds therapeutic campus combining inpatient and outpatient care

The gift will support development of a new space on the Franciscan Children's campus, which joined the Boston Children's health system in 2023. The facility will combine inpatient, outpatient, and rehabilitation services under one roof, increasing capacity to treat children and adolescents facing mental health needs.

Design features single-patient rooms and autism-specific programming

The Brighton campus will include single-patient rooms and specialized programs for children with autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities. The building will also introduce pediatric and adolescent partial hospitalization and an intensive outpatient care program, alongside rehabilitation services ranging from post-acute to outpatient care.

Project creates up to 200 jobs and over 3,320 construction roles

Beyond clinical capacity, the campus is projected to generate between 150 and 200 new community jobs once operational, plus more than 3,320 construction jobs during the build-out phase.

Bank of America CEO frames investment as community infrastructure commitment

"This new campus has the potential to change the trajectory of care for children and families across Greater Boston," said Holly O'Neill, President, Consumer, Retail and Preferred at Bank of America. Bank of America employees and executives volunteered at Franciscan Children's on the day of the announcement, engaging with patients in medical rehabilitation and behavioral health units through activities including kickball, mural painting, and reading sessions.

Boston Children's CEO cites expanded research and training capacity

Kevin B. Churchwell, MD, CEO of Boston Children's Hospital, said the grant will support advancing research, training specialists, and strengthening community partnerships tied to the new facility.
