BMS Staff Assemble 70+ Schizophrenia Support Kits in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh – October 12, 2026 -- Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) employees in Saudi Arabia assembled and personalized more than 70 'Small Wins' toolkits for people living with schizophrenia, in partnership with the Saudi Schizophrenia Association ('Ehtiwaa'). The project was part of the 12th edition of BMS's annual Global Patient Week.

Ehtiwaa and BMS design a four-step kit to build daily motivation

The 'Small Wins: Everyday Activity & Motivation' toolkit guides patients through four steps: pick a card, try the activity, recognize the win, and add it to a jar. Each kit contains activity cards with optional suggestions such as listening to a favorite song, spending a few minutes outside or tidying one small space. A 'Small Wins Jar' with paper slips lets users record daily moments of joy. Each kit also carries a handwritten note from a BMS volunteer.

The kits are designed to complement broader psychosocial support approaches rather than replace them.

Riyadh staff volunteer to build kits by hand

BMS team members in Riyadh took part in a hands-on volunteering session to assemble the kits for patients across the Kingdom. Mayada Al Ahmad, General Manager of BMS KSA, said supporting patients "extends beyond medicines."

Non-profit partner stresses stigma reduction and inclusion

Ehtiwaa Executive Director Dr. Manal Sawan described the group as the first and leading organization in Saudi Arabia and the Arab world dedicated to people living with schizophrenia and their families. She said the partnership shows the value of non-profit and private-sector collaboration in improving quality of life and supporting inclusion. Ehtiwaa was established in 2010 and is registered with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development.
