Global – October 15, 2026 -- Some 64% of organizations surveyed in CGI's 2026 Voice of Our Clients insights intend to use AI in core business processes, versus 17% in administrative functions and 15% in IT-only applications. CGI cites the figures as it argues that insurers should treat rating as a connected pricing life cycle rather than an automation task.
Pricing cycles are shrinking from months to days or hours
CGI says traditional rate changes can take days, weeks or even months because sophisticated models require extensive analysis, validation and implementation. Insurers now need to model, test and implement changes in days or, in some cases, hours. Legacy systems force teams to move data among separate tools to test rates, which lengthens cycles.
Low-code tools shift routine rate changes to business teams
Low-code and no-code capabilities can give actuarial and business teams control over routine pricing changes, while IT focuses on architecture, integration, security and platform reliability. CGI says built-in testing, approvals, version control and audit trails remain essential for oversight.
AI could separate hazardous-road braking from aggressive driving in telematics data
In auto insurance, AI could analyze telematics alongside road conditions and vehicle technology to distinguish sudden braking caused by hazards from a recurring pattern of aggressive driving. With validation, governance and controls, pricing professionals could use such insights to test scenarios and judge whether a rate change is justified.
Actuaries stay in control of pricing decisions
CGI states that AI should prepare analyses and make recommendations, while actuaries keep control with business, actuarial and regulatory approvals. Recommendations must be explainable and traceable. Retaining the context behind each decision would let insurers compare assumptions with actual performance and help preserve knowledge as experienced professionals retire.

Through the Ratabase Product Advisory Council (RPAC), CGI is bringing insurance practitioners and its own experts together to test emerging concepts and inform future product priorities.
