San Francisco – October 06, 2026 -- Checkr has expanded its mortgage verification offering to cover more than 97% of U.S. workers with a 75% completion rate, adding new data sources as borrower income grows increasingly volatile.

Income instability among mortgage applicants rose to 62% in 2025 from 50% in 2022

Truework's 2026 housing affordability research, based on roughly 300,000 mortgage applicant records, found the share of applicants with unstable income climbed to 62% in 2025, up from 50% in 2022. The severity of income swings nearly tripled over the same period, according to the study.

Checkr acquired Truv in August 2026 to add payroll and financial data access

The deal expands consumer-permissioned payroll and financial data access, giving lenders additional direct channels to verify income, employment and assets. Checkr entered the mortgage market through its 2025 acquisition of Truework and has since built out the offering through subsequent acquisitions and partnerships.

The company is expanding lenders' ability to qualify non-traditional income types, including self-employment, rental income and other complex financial profiles, moving beyond verification built around standard W-2 paychecks.

Stifel survey shows Checkr capturing largest share of shifting verification volume

Stifel's 2026 survey of mortgage lenders and processors found Checkr's mortgage offering accounted for the largest share of verification volume shifting among firms processing more than 100,000 mortgages annually.

"Borrowers don't all fit the traditional paycheck mold, and Checkr is helping us meet them where they are," said Brad Lando, senior vice president of strategic development at Rate. He added that additional data sources and faster verification lower costs and reduce manual work for lenders.

Checkr will present the mortgage offering as a Platinum Sponsor at the Mortgage Bankers Association Annual Convention & Expo at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, with a presence in the Acapulco Room on Ballroom Level West.
