CPKC Sets September and Q3 Grain Volume Records in Canada, US

Calgary – October 2, 2026 -- Canadian Pacific Kansas City (TSX: CP) (NYSE: CP) moved 5.45 million metric tonnes (MMT) and 56,560 combined carloads of grain and grain products across Canada and the United States in September 2026, setting new monthly and third-quarter records that surpass marks previously set in 2020.

Canadian grain volumes hit 2.94 MMT in September, a second consecutive monthly record

CPKC moved 2.94 MMT and 30,324 carloads of grain and grain products in Canada in September 2026, marking the second record month in a row to open the 2026-2027 crop year. The July-September 2026 quarter also set a third-quarter record for both carloads and metric tonnes in Canadian grain.

US grain shipments reach 2.51 MMT, driving a parallel quarterly record

In the United States, CPKC transported 2.51 MMT and 26,236 carloads of grain and grain products in September 2026. The same July-September period set a third-quarter record for US grain carloads and tonnage.

Combined cross-border volumes break both monthly and quarterly records

Aggregated Canadian and US grain traffic set new all-time records for both total carloads and metric tonnes moved in a single September and across a third quarter. Elizabeth Hucker, CPKC Vice President, Sales & Marketing Bulk, attributed the results to coordinated execution among railroaders, customers and grain supply chain partners.

Year-to-date Canadian grain shipments exceed 4.99 MMT through Week 8

Through Week 8 of the current crop year, CPKC has transported more than 4.99 MMT and 51,268 carloads of Canadian grain and grain products. The railway released its 2026-2027 Grain Service Outlook Report on July 31, 2026, detailing its service plans for the crop year.
