CRRC Completes 110-Meter Recyclable Blade With 95% Material Recovery

Hamburg, Germany – September 24, 2026 -- CRRC Corporation Limited (SHA: 601766) has completed production of a 110-meter recyclable wind turbine blade in Sheyang, Jiangsu Province, achieving a recovery rate exceeding 95% for key raw materials. The blade, developed in-house, targets commercial-scale recycling of ultra-large turbine blades as China's decommissioning volumes rise.

China faces nearly 1 million metric tons of wind-related solid waste by 2030

Industry estimates cited by CRRC project that more than 30,000 wind turbines, representing 44.73 GW of capacity, will be retired in China by 2030, generating 947,900 metric tons of solid waste. New onshore and offshore installations in China are expected to exceed 470 GW in the years ahead, intensifying pressure on end-of-life blade management.

Reversible chemical debonding separates resin from fiber for reuse

The blade uses a recyclable material system built around a debondable infusion resin, meeting strength, stiffness and fatigue-life requirements while allowing efficient separation of resin from reinforcing fibers through reversible chemical debonding. Recovered materials can be redirected into wind equipment, automotive manufacturing and infrastructure construction, moving blades away from a single-use model toward closed-loop, high-value reuse.

Design targets EU sustainability reporting rules and offshore deployment

CRRC positions the recyclable blade system to help customers meet international sustainability objectives, including reporting obligations under the EU's Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive. The design is also suited to high-capacity offshore turbines, combining safety, environmental performance and cost-effectiveness as CRRC expands its offshore wind equipment into international markets.

Prior investments include a recyclable resin blade and a mobile recycling factory

The 110-meter blade builds on CRRC's March 2025 development of China's first TMT82 recyclable thermoset-resin blade, which uses reversible chemical bonds to enable depolymerization and separation of resin and fibers while retaining conventional mechanical performance. In April 2025, CRRC launched China's first mobile, intelligent processing system for decommissioned blades, combining distributed and centralized operations in a deployable model that CRRC says exceeds applicable national processing-capacity standards.
