Sunnyvale, Calif. – September 24, 2026 -- Discern Security has launched an integration with Jamf that turns existing device inventory data into visibility on AI and Shadow AI tools running across managed Mac fleets, the companies announced. The integration is available now on the Jamf Marketplace.
Integration requires no new endpoint software
The system uses a read-only API role and the Jamf agent already deployed on managed devices, avoiding additional installations. It draws on Jamf Pro data spanning computers, computer groups, OS X configuration profiles, patch policies, software title configurations, mobile devices, applications, users, LDAP servers, SSO, and webhooks.
Five checks target AI tools that standard inventory misses
Discern's AI asset discovery feature matches application data against a curated AI service dictionary and adds five lightweight checks delivered via Jamf extension attributes. These checks detect local AI model runtimes, MCP server configuration files, command-line AI tools without app bundles, AI browser extensions, and applications with microphone or screen recording permissions.
Combined data feeds a unified security posture view
Discern layers the Jamf telemetry with intelligence from identity, email, vulnerability management, SASE, and compliance tools, giving IT and security teams a consolidated basis for prioritizing remediation across managed Mac environments.
CEO cites board-level pressure to inventory AI usage
Sai Venkataraman, CEO of Discern Security, said organizations frequently already hold the data needed to answer questions about AI technologies running on endpoints within existing Jamf inventory, but it has not been surfaced in a usable form. Matt Arsenault, VP of Corporate Development & Strategic Alliances at Jamf, said the partnership helps customers extend existing asset data to close visibility gaps and drive remediation on tools teams adopt independently.
Companies to showcase integration at JNUC 2026
Discern Security is presenting the integration at the Jamf Nation User Conference, running September 23-25 in Kansas City. Discern Security raised a $13 million Series A led by Forgepoint Capital in July 2026. Jamf reports managing and securing over 35 million devices for more than 78,000 organizations across 100 countries.
