DTE Energy Completes 100-MW Solar Park for Ford's Michigan Plants

Detroit – October 01, 2026 -- DTE Energy has completed construction on the 100-megawatt Cold Creek Solar Park near Coldwater, Michigan, a facility funded through Ford Motor Company's enrollment in DTE's voluntary MIGreenPower renewables program.

Ford commits to up to 650 megawatts of renewable capacity through DTE program

Ford agreed to purchase up to 650 megawatts of renewable energy via DTE's CleanVision MIGreenPower program, which lets businesses attribute their electricity use to Michigan-generated clean power. By the end of 2027, Ford says every vehicle it manufactures in Michigan will be assembled using the equivalent of 100% carbon-free electricity.

DTE operates 56 renewable parks generating power for nearly 1 million homes

DTE currently runs 20 wind parks and 36 solar parks across Michigan, with combined output sufficient to power close to 1 million homes. The company frames these assets, including MIGreenPower-backed projects like Cold Creek, as central to Michigan's statutory target of 60% renewable energy by 2035 and DTE's own net-zero carbon goal.

Ford executive ties solar investment to grid resiliency for plants and communities

Amir Mirshahi, director of Energy Infrastructure & Engineering at Ford, said Cold Creek Solar Park is now delivering clean, reliable energy for the automaker's Michigan operations and the communities surrounding its plants. He said such projects strengthen grid resiliency that Ford's facilities, employees and neighboring residents depend on.

MIGreenPower ranks among largest voluntary renewable programs in the US

Matt Paul, president and chief operating officer of DTE Electric, said the program is helping companies like Ford meet sustainability targets while building long-term renewable infrastructure. DTE positions MIGreenPower as one of the largest voluntary corporate renewable energy programs nationally, crediting it with generating tax revenue for host communities and creating local jobs tied to projects such as Cold Creek.
