Shenzhen – September 07, 2026 -- Fibocom Wireless Inc. has launched the RU311 5G RedCap module series, targeting mid-tier IoT devices such as industrial gateways, security cameras, aftermarket automotive systems, energy applications and MiFi devices that require a lower-cost path from 4G to 5G.
RU311 delivers dual-mode 5G RedCap and LTE Cat.4 connectivity
Built on the UNISOC V527 platform, the RU311 supports 5G RedCap with peak downlink speeds up to 226 Mbps and uplink speeds up to 120 Mbps. In LTE Cat.4 mode, it reaches 150 Mbps downlink and 50 Mbps uplink, giving manufacturers a single module capable of serving both legacy and next-generation deployments.
Pin-compatible design cuts hardware redesign costs
The RU311 LGA variant measures 32 mm x 29 mm x 2.4 mm and is pin-layout compatible with Fibocom's FG132 RedCap module and NL668/L716 Cat.4 modules. This compatibility allows customers with existing 4G motherboard designs to migrate to 5G without a full hardware redesign, reducing testing, validation and new product introduction cycles.
Three form factors target different integration stages
Fibocom offers the RU311 in LGA, M.2 and Mini PCIe form factors. The M.2 variant supports rapid validation and platform integration, while the Mini PCIe variant is designed for industrial gateways, routers, industrial PCs and embedded platforms. The series supports TCP/UDP, HTTP/HTTPS, SSL and MQTT protocols, along with USB, UART, RGMII, SDIO, I2C, SPI and GPIO interfaces.
UNISOC and Fibocom deepen RedCap ecosystem collaboration
A UNISOC representative said RedCap technology expands 5G's application potential in the mid-tier IoT market by giving devices a way to balance performance, power consumption and cost, and confirmed continued collaboration with Fibocom to grow the RedCap ecosystem.
