Los Angeles – September 09, 2026 -- Iwa Robotics, Inc. has introduced a three-platform autonomous drone fleet designed to detect, diagnose and suppress urban wildfires, unifying the aircraft under a single operating framework called the Discovery and Resolution Fleet (DRF).
Three specialized aircraft cover the full wildfire response lifecycle
The Los Angeles-based autonomous field systems company unveiled HAWK, a long-endurance reconnaissance aircraft for early detection; CANARY, a sensing platform that diagnoses fire behavior and optimizes crew engagement; and PELICAN, a self-guided aerial suppression aircraft built to resolve hot spots and establish fire lines through continuous drenching.
Fleet targets wildland-urban interface zones with crew-safety focus
The aircraft are engineered for wildland-urban interface (WUI) zones and are operated as an autonomous fleet by fire crews in the field. CANARY delivers real-time sensory data and personnel risk signals to crews upon arrival and throughout an incident. Mirza Samnani, CEO of Iwa Robotics, said the platform's core function is enhancing crew safety through in-field diagnostic tools, describing CANARY's role as functioning "like your dalmatian in the sky."
Technology was field-hardened alongside working fire crews
Samnani said the company's engineering approach relied on direct input from field teams, drone pilots and fire captains who understand both firefighting operations and drone controls, with Iwa building capabilities based on their specifications.
Fleet-as-a-service model removes upfront capital costs for agencies
Iwa plans to equip fire agencies through a fleet-as-a-service model covering the turnkey aircraft platform, autonomy training, ongoing data insights, maintenance and insurance. The structure allows agencies to add aerial detection and remote suppression capabilities without upfront capital expenditure, training programs or lengthy procurement cycles.
Second roadshow spans field demonstrations across eight states
The company is currently conducting its second cross-country roadshow, with field demonstrations scheduled for fire and public safety agencies across eight states. Agencies can request demonstrations and product information through a dedicated contact channel.
