John Hancock Expands IUL, Term Life Products With Vitality Access

Boston – September 28, 2026 -- John Hancock has expanded its protection insurance portfolio, enhancing its Protection Indexed Universal Life solution (Protection IUL 26) and its term life insurance suite to give financial professionals more tools for addressing clients' long-term planning needs.

Longevity Preparedness Index shows US adults score just 60 out of 100

John Hancock's 2025 Longevity Preparedness Index, developed with the MIT AgeLab, found that U.S. adults averaged only 60 out of 100 in overall preparedness for longer lives. The study, based on a representative sample of 1,307 Americans surveyed between May 14 and June 5, 2025, found planning needs extend across health, care, housing, community, and major life transitions—beyond a single financial goal.

Protection IUL 26 adds optional guarantees and indexed growth potential

The updated Protection IUL 26 solution introduces new optional guarantees alongside indexed growth potential, giving financial professionals added flexibility to structure protection strategies around individual client preferences.

Term portfolio expands to three coverage options with broader conversion flexibility

John Hancock's enhanced term insurance suite now spans three options, ranging from cost-effective, protection-focused coverage to solutions offering expanded conversion flexibility. The changes are designed to help financial professionals match coverage strategies to client goals and create a clearer path from temporary to permanent insurance as needs evolve.

Eligible customers gain access to John Hancock's Vitality wellness program

Customers purchasing the enhanced products gain access to John Hancock's Vitality program, which provides tools, technology, education, and rewards intended to support healthier lifestyles alongside financial protection.

Hector Martinez, Head of Insurance at John Hancock, said financial plans are not one-size-fits-all and that consumers want protection strategies offering both long-term support for loved ones and future value growth. He added that the expanded portfolio gives financial professionals more solutions to serve clients with greater choice, growth potential, and flexibility over time.

Products are issued by John Hancock Life Insurance Company (U.S.A.), based in Boston, and John Hancock Life Insurance Company of New York, based in Valhalla, New York. Availability of policies, features, and benefits varies by state, and guaranteed features depend on minimum premium requirements and the claims-paying ability of the issuer.
