Cambridge, England – September 23, 2026 -- Kigen has become the first company to achieve GSMA eUICC Security Assurance (eSA) certification for an automotive eSIM supporting SGP.32 v1.3, GSMA's latest IoT eSIM specification, giving connected-vehicle manufacturers a standards-current security platform for fleets requiring decade-plus service life.
The certification pairs Kigen's eSIM OS with Infineon's TEGRION SLI22 automotive security controller. It extends Kigen's certified portfolio across the TEGRION SLx22 chip family into three products: Automotive (SLI22), Consumer (SLC22, supporting SGP.22 v2.7), and Industrial IoT (SLM22, supporting SGP.32 v1.3). All three share a common OS, hardware platform, development tools and management stack, letting OEMs apply one security architecture across infotainment, telematics and headless vehicle systems.
Certification covers SGP.32 v1.3 enhancements published in May 2026
Kigen's implementation supports direct and indirect profile downloads, digital activation codes and emergency profile handling specified in SGP.32 v1.3, released by GSMA in May 2026. Early support for these enhancements reduces the risk of architectural obsolescence for OEMs qualifying platforms today against long vehicle program timelines.
Kigen builds post-quantum cryptography testing into automotive eSIM rollout
While post-quantum cryptography is not yet part of GSMA specifications, Kigen supports OEMs implementing hybrid key encapsulation that combines classical and quantum-safe algorithms on the same platform. OEMs can test end-to-end PQC-resistant communications using Kigen's C-SDK development suite and test eSIM samples ahead of anticipated quantum threats to long-lived vehicle fleets.
The automotive certification follows Kigen's earlier eSA-certified IoT and Consumer eSIMs, which introduced secure OS updates for compliance with the EU Cybersecurity Resilience Act, certified six months prior.
