Los Angeles – – October 13, 2026 -- Californians registered 1.81 million new gas, hybrid and electric vehicles in 2025, the backdrop for the 2026 Los Angeles Auto Show's decision to make Energy the first of three narrative pillars, with Chevron with Techron as presenting sponsor of the consumer show.
AutoMobility LA, the show's global media and industry day, opens Nov. 19 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Ten public days follow, Nov. 20 through 29. Industry registration costs $249. Media registration is complimentary for accredited and approved journalists and content producers.
Market data frames California as a multi-powertrain testbed
The California New Car Dealers Association reported the 1.81 million registrations for 2025. The California Energy Commission counts more than 216,000 publicly available and shared EV charging ports in the state. The ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, described as the busiest container complex in the Western Hemisphere, support heavy-duty electric trucks moving into daily service.
Toyota, Nissan, Genesis and General Motors maintain design or advanced development operations across Southern California.
Chevron to use the show to promote next-generation Techron
Chevron U.S.A. Inc. will run a dedicated consumer activation for next-generation Techron throughout all 10 public days. Techron is Chevron's reformulated gasoline additive, designed to give greater protection against engine deposits from lower-quality fuels. Every grade of Chevron gasoline carries Techron.
Chevron's El Segundo refinery sits roughly a dozen miles from the convention center. The company also supplies an extensive network of branded retail stations across the region.
Terri Toennies, President and Chief Operating Officer of the Los Angeles Auto Show, said Chevron refines, sells and hires in Los Angeles, which makes the sponsorship relevant to the market.
Industry day gathers automakers, utilities and investors on one floor
On Nov. 19, AutoMobility LA will bring together automakers, energy companies, utilities, suppliers, technology firms, investors, analysts and government, alongside global automotive media. Vehicle debuts, press conferences and main-stage conversations run throughout the day. Automakers, energy companies and municipalities are engaging with organizers on announcements, topics and speakers. The 2026 vehicle announcements and the full main-stage schedule will be released in early November.
The Energy narrative covers the millions of gasoline vehicles on California roads, where fuel quality and efficiency matter, as well as EV investment, where charging access and grid capacity are increasingly part of the equation. Autonomy and Entertainment, the two remaining pillars, will follow in the weeks ahead.
Public days put competing powertrains side by side
Gasoline, hybrid and electric vehicles from domestic and international brands will share the show floor, from subcompacts to full-size models and from newly introduced lower-priced entries to premium vehicles above $100,000. The outdoor LADWP Test Track and street test drives let Southern California buyers compare powertrains from multiple brands directly.
