Novogradac Sets Fall OZ Conference as Treasury Nears New Designations

San Francisco – September 25, 2026 -- Novogradac will convene investors, fund managers, developers and advisors at its 2026 Fall Opportunity Zones Conference on Oct. 29-30 at the Fairmont Washington D.C. Georgetown, as the U.S. Department of the Treasury prepares to finalize new OZ designations this fall.

One Big Beautiful Bill Act locks in permanent OZ incentive

The opportunity zones tax incentive has been made permanent under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, giving market participants long-term planning certainty ahead of the next designation cycle. Novogradac's conference will open with an update on the latest policy and legislative developments affecting OZ investment structuring.

White House economic adviser Kevin Hassett to address attendees

National Economic Council director Kevin Hassett is scheduled to speak at the event, alongside sessions covering how regulatory changes will affect investment flows and how to interpret updated OZ guidance. A case-studies panel will examine stalled projects, partner disputes, capital gaps and restructuring strategies facing current fund sponsors.

Watkins flags competitive window before designations finalize

Jason Watkins, a Novogradac partner in the metro Atlanta office and conference chair, said OZ stakeholders face a critical juncture as new nominations have been submitted and Treasury designations are expected this fall. He noted the conference offers a chance for market participants to prepare before investment activity accelerates and competition for sites intensifies.

Two pre-conference workshops precede main sessions Oct. 28

Novogradac will run an Opportunity Zones Basics Workshop covering qualified opportunity funds, qualified OZ property and qualified OZ business property, alongside a Beyond OZ Basics Workshop addressing complex planning, financing and compliance scenarios. Separate registration fees apply to the workshops.

Sixteen sponsors and four co-hosts back the D.C. gathering

The conference is co-hosted by Bonaventure, Greenberg Traurig LLP, JTC Group and OZfile, with sponsorship from firms including CIM Group, Hogan Lovells Cadwalader, Sidley Austin LLP, Snell & Wilmer and Standard Asset Management & Investments, among others.
