Ontario Airport Ranks No. 2 in J.D. Power Satisfaction Study

Ontario, Calif. – September 19, 2026 -- Ontario International Airport (ONT) has secured the No. 2 spot among North America's medium-sized airports in the J.D. Power 2026 North America Airport Satisfaction Study for the second consecutive year, posting a customer satisfaction score of 705, just seven points behind the top-ranked facility.

ONT tops rankings in arrival experience and passenger trust

The airport claimed the No. 1 position in two of the study's key categories: Arrival/From Airport Experience and 'level of trust.' The J.D. Power study evaluates passenger satisfaction across seven dimensions, including ease of travel through the airport, terminal facilities, airport staff, and food, beverage and retail offerings.

Passenger volumes climb 75% since 2016 local ownership shift

Passenger traffic at ONT has grown 75% since the airport returned to local ownership in 2016, and the facility is on track to serve more than 7 million travelers this year. Atif Elkadi, Chief Executive Officer of the Ontario International Airport Authority (OIAA), said the ranking reflects the airport's culture and the daily interactions between staff, airline partners and stakeholders.

"We're incredibly proud to be No. 2 again. But we're not building ONT to be second best," Elkadi said, adding that the airport's goal is to deliver the best airport experience in North America as it approaches a decade under local ownership.

Growth plans target new destinations without sacrificing service quality

Elkadi said expansion plans involving more passengers, additional destinations and new facilities are being pursued without compromising the customer experience ONT has built over the past decade.
