Sydney – October 13, 2026 -- Osara Health has partnered with Medibank, one of Australia's largest private health insurers, to offer its Cancer Coach program to more than 4 million Medibank customers, subject to eligibility. Eligible members living with cancer can join from 14 October 2026.
Program pairs each member with a dedicated exercise physiologist coach
Each participant works one-on-one with a coach who is an exercise physiologist trained in health coaching. Coaches help members set personal health goals and give practical guidance on fatigue, sleep, physical activity, nutrition and emotional wellbeing. Participants also receive personalised education and access to the Osara Health app.
Remote delivery over 6 to 12 weeks extends reach to regional Australia
The program runs remotely, so members can take part from home, including in regional and remote areas. It complements the care provided by each person's treating team. Participants keep access to the app and educational resources after coaching ends.
Around 170,000 Australians face a cancer diagnosis each year
The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare data cited by the companies puts annual diagnoses at around 170,000. Many patients manage fatigue, poor sleep, reduced fitness and the emotional impact of diagnosis while keeping up with work and family life.
Osara Health Co-Founder and CEO Dr Raghav Murali-Ganesh, a radiation oncologist, said the partnership allows many more Australians with cancer to get support between appointments. Dr Paul Eleftheriou, Chief Medical Officer of Medibank and AHM, said the tie-up lets the insurer offer dedicated cancer coaching alongside members' medical care.
JMIR Cancer study reports clinically meaningful health gains
A study published in JMIR Cancer in 2026 found that participants reported, on average, clinically meaningful improvements in both physical and mental health. The paper evaluated a telehealth coaching and mobile-based digital engagement intervention using the Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System Global Health questionnaire in a pilot design.
