San Francisco and Nashville – September 11, 2026 -- Parakeet Health and Qualderm have launched an AI-driven scheduling collaboration to reconnect dermatology patients across a network of nearly 160 practices in 17 states, as appointment wait times climb nationwide.
Dermatology wait times rise 6% since 2022, hitting 36.5 days on average
A recent study cited by the companies found patients in 15 major U.S. metropolitan areas now wait an average of 36.5 days for a dermatology appointment, up 6% since 2022. Qualderm, a management services organization supporting medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology, skin cancer care, and plastic surgery practices, cited this access gap as the driver behind the partnership.
Parakeet's AI scans provider schedules to fill gaps from cancellations and no-shows
Under the collaboration, Parakeet Health's conversational AI platform evaluates Qualderm's provider schedules in real time to identify open appointment slots and reconnect patients who canceled, missed visits, or are overdue for follow-up care. The system is designed to interpret clinical intent and scheduling rules that vary across Qualderm's nearly 160 practices before booking appointments directly within existing workflows.
Qualderm executive links faster rebooking to reduced treatment delays
"For national networks such as Qualderm, reconnecting patients who cancel or miss visits and quickly filling newly available appointments helps more patients receive timely care and stay connected to their care plans," said Blake Area, Chief Marketing and Digital Officer at Qualderm.
