Peak Nano Wins Two US Patents for High-Temp Capacitor Films

Valley View, Ohio – October 12, 2026 -- Peak Nano has secured two U.S. patents for dielectric capacitor films that it says deliver four times the energy density of current biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) film and hold full capacity up to 135°C, versus the 85°C limit of industry-standard BOPP.

Patent US12427754B2 targets smaller capacitor banks with a multilayered HDC film

The first patent covers Peak Nano's corona-treated multilayered High Dielectric Constant (HDC) film. Its surface modifications are optimized for metallization, tighter winding and integration in wound metallized capacitors.

The company says the nanolayer architecture delivers four times higher energy density and greater stability than state-of-the-art BOPP. Engineers can design capacitor banks up to two times smaller, cutting cost and system complexity.

Peak Nano Wins Akron Hub Funding for Biodegradable Packaging Films

Valley View – – October 12, 2026 -- Peak Nano has secured R&D funding from the Greater Akron Polymer Innovation Hub to develop nanolayered biodegradable multilayer polymer films for food, beverage and medical packaging, one of eight projects selected from more than 40 regional proposals.

Peak Nano targets hard-to-recycle multilayer barrier films

The Ohio company aims to replace conventional multilayer packaging film, which can contain many tightly bonded layers of polymers and additives that are difficult or impossible to recycle. Over time these materials fragment and shed micro- and nanoparticles into soils and waterways. Peak Nano says its alternative will keep barrier performance intact while being engineered for biodegradability.
