Milan – September 24, 2026 -- Prometeon Tyre Group has selected and commissioned an automated tire inspection system built jointly by Rockwell Automation and Tekna Automazione e Controllo, targeting automatic quality checks on truck, bus and radial tire lines.
Prometeon commissions joint inspection system for high-volume tire lines
The solution combines Rockwell's industrial automation and digital transformation capabilities with Tekna's image-processing and inspection technology to automatically detect and classify tire anomalies during final inspection. Prometeon, which positions itself as the only tyre manufacturer fully focused on the industrial, agricultural and OTR sectors, is deploying the system across its manufacturing operations to reduce reliance on manual quality checks.
Rockwell says the project links automation expertise with production data visibility
"Tire manufacturers continue to face increasing expectations around product quality, operational efficiency and workforce productivity," said Luca Galluzzi, country director, Italy, Rockwell Automation. Kalypso, Rockwell's digital transformation consulting arm, is also involved, aligning the new inspection capabilities with Prometeon's wider manufacturing modernization strategy.
Tekna cites long-standing tire industry experience behind the machine-vision system
Michele De Stasio, chairman and CEO of Tekna Automazione e Controllo, said the company has worked with tire manufacturers for years on inspection and quality-control challenges, and the collaboration merges its machine-vision and data-analysis experience with Rockwell's industrial expertise and Prometeon's manufacturing knowledge to support more repeatable inspection processes.
Prometeon frames the deployment as part of a broader operational-excellence push
Bruno Lodi, chief manufacturing officer at Prometeon Tyre Group, said the company is evaluating technologies to strengthen product quality, improve process consistency and support more data-driven manufacturing practices. Prometeon has separately been working with Rockwell on broader manufacturing modernization initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency across its plants.
