Bratislava – September 21, 2026 -- EXPO 2027 Belgrade brought its "Visit Serbia" roadshow to Bratislava, convening Serbian and Slovak travel and business representatives to forge partnerships ahead of the Western Balkans' first Specialised Expo, scheduled for 15 May to 15 August 2027 under the theme "Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All."
More than 135 countries confirm participation in Belgrade Expo
Organizers expect several million visits over the 93-day event, with over 135 countries having already confirmed participation.
Slovakia becomes first country to sign Expo participation contract
"Slovakia was the first country to sign the Participation Contract for EXPO 2027 Belgrade, reflecting the strong ties between our business communities," said Igor Kovačević, Executive Director of EXPO 2027 Belgrade, who invited Slovak travel professionals to develop itineraries and visit Serbia directly.
Bilateral trade between Serbia and Slovakia reaches EUR 1.3 billion in 2025
Serbia is Slovakia's most important trading partner in the Western Balkans, with bilateral trade reaching approximately EUR 1.3 billion in 2025, a 15 percent increase year-on-year, according to the Slovak Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs. Slovakia's Commissioner General for EXPO 2027 Belgrade, Lukáš Parízek, outlined preparations for Slovakia's national pavilion and presence, highlighting the trade benefits for Slovak delegates.
Tourism officials position Expo as global platform beyond the event window
Matej Fekete, Director General of SLOVAKIA TRAVEL, said the Expo extends beyond its 93-day run, functioning as a platform for destinations to build awareness, create partnerships and inspire future travel. The event included presentations and B2B meetings with Slovak travel agencies, tour operators and business leaders, with the "Visit Serbia" campaign promoting Serbia's historic sites, cities, mountains, spas and cuisine to Slovak travel professionals.
