Swarmer Integrates SpiderOak Zero-Trust Security for Drone Swarms

RESTON – October 27, 2026 -- Swarmer, a provider of autonomous drone software founded in 2023, has agreed to integrate SpiderOak's zero-trust security platform into its swarm control software, targeting uncrewed fleets that operate under electronic warfare conditions, including in Ukraine.

SpiderOak adds authentication and revocation to Swarmer's autonomy stack

Under the agreement, Swarmer will use the SpiderOak platform to provide secure interactions and revocation across its autonomous software. SpiderOak says any-to-any message exchanges within a formation will be authenticated, authorized and encrypted without additional networking controls or certificate management.

The platform combines security controls with guaranteed eventual delivery. Its low size, weight and power (SWaP) requirements and decentralized security model remove the need for additional infrastructure, according to the companies.

Swarmer software lets one operator control hundreds of drones under jamming

Swarmer's technology lets uncrewed air, sea and ground vehicles communicate and coordinate without human intervention, even when GPS and RF communications are jammed. The software supports coordinated swarm formations in which one operator controls hundreds of drones, regardless of manufacturer or type.

Replacement and compromised assets drive the use case

Swarmer CEO and co-founder Sergey Kuprienko said the integration lets forces authenticate and authorize replacement drones joining an operation while revoking lost or potentially compromised assets.

SpiderOak CEO Dave Pearah said the mesh platform delivers zero-trust access control and data exchange without the infrastructure or connectivity overhead of traditional security tools.

Retired U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Ken Tovo, former commander of US Army Special Operations Command, said the side that secures its data and controls access dynamically will hold a significant competitive advantage.
