Oslo – October 13, 2026 -- TGS and joint venture partner SLB have announced Pelotas Sul Phase 2, a multi-client 3D survey covering approximately 11,200 square kilometers offshore southern Brazil, with a Ramform Titan-class vessel due to begin acquisition in October 2026.
Ramform Titan-class vessel to finish acquisition in Q2/Q3 2027
Data acquisition is scheduled to run from October 2026 to Q2/Q3 2027. The survey follows Pelotas Sul Phase 1, which was acquired earlier this year, and adds to TGS' 3D seismic coverage in the Pelotas Basin.
Namibia discoveries de-risk the frontier Pelotas Basin
TGS describes the Pelotas Basin as a frontier area that continues to attract industry interest. The basin is supported by geological analogs along the conjugate margin and de-risked by discoveries in Namibia.
The company cites a broad range of underexplored play concepts, including turbidite systems, deep-water channels, and stratigraphic and structural traps.
Mixed held and open acreage targets licensing and farm-in activity
Phase 2 covers a balanced mix of held and open acreage. The data serves companies evaluating existing positions and creates opportunities tied to future licensing rounds and potential farm-in activity.
TGS CEO Kristian Johansen said the project will deliver additional high-quality subsurface insight across both acreage types in the southern Pelotas Basin, in a basin attracting "growing client interest."
