Kuala Lumpur – – October 17, 2026 -- Nasdaq-listed Founder Group Limited (FGL) has completed the acquisition of a 19.90% equity interest in Nichcom Go Sdn. Bhd., the Malaysian charge point operator behind the SpacePlus EV charging brand. Financial terms were not disclosed in the announcement.

Malaysia's charger rollout trails its 2025 target by more than 3,500 units

The Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) reported 6,416 EV chargers installed nationwide as of May 31, 2026: 2,143 DC chargers and 4,273 AC chargers. That is short of the original 10,000-unit target set for 2025. The National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) now targets 30,000 public charging stations by 2030, roughly five times today's installed base.

National Grid Advances HVDC Links and £1bn London Rewire

United Kingdom – October 16, 2026 -- National Grid is advancing a portfolio of transmission projects that includes a seven-year, £1 billion programme to rewire South London through deep underground tunnels, begun in Spring 2020, and several 2 GW high voltage direct current (HVDC) links between Scotland and England.

Eastern Green Links add 2 GW corridors from Scotland to England

EGL1 is a 2 GW HVDC link between the Torness area in East Lothian, Scotland, and Hawthorn Pit in County Durham. EGL2, also rated at 2 GW, will run from Peterhead in Aberdeenshire to Drax in North Yorkshire. EGL3 and EGL4 are intended to raise network capability to connect new offshore wind farms.

National Grid Electricity Transmission is also developing Sea Link, a planned high voltage undersea connection between Suffolk and Kent. Separately, a project to strengthen the Scotland-England network would connect new energy sources in the Scottish Borders.

NTPC Signs 25-Year PPA for 247Solar Thermal Pilot in Rajasthan

Great Falls, Va. – October 16, 2026 -- NTPC Limited, India's largest electric utility, has signed a 25-year power purchase agreement with Virginia-based 247Solar for the company's first commercial solar thermal project, a ~1MW hybrid plant at Rajasthan's Bhadla Solar Park.

NTPC Tests Round-the-Clock Solar Thermal as Coal Alternative

India's utilities have recently built coal capacity alongside solar and wind to cover the gap left by photovoltaic panels after sunset and in bad weather. NTPC will test whether 247Solar's system can close that gap and reduce its reliance on coal. Backers expect the utility to consider wider deployment across India if the project succeeds.

247Solar founder and CEO Bruce Anderson said the technology addresses intermittent solar and wind power and avoids spending more on costly coal plants. He added that NTPC conducted several years of due diligence before moving forward.

National Grid Files £4.5bn Transmission Proposals With Ofgem

London – October 15, 2026 -- National Grid has asked Ofgem to approve 19 electricity transmission projects worth around £4.5 billion across England and Wales, filed under the RIIO-T3 load re-opener process.

Package combines £2.3bn from May with £2.2bn filed in October

The £4.5 billion total comprises £2.3 billion across six projects already submitted in the May re-opener, which are progressing through Ofgem's assessment. A further £2.2 billion is proposed in the October submission. Re-opener figures are in 2023/24 prices, in line with Ofgem's guidance for RIIO-T3 price control submissions.

SANY Extends Turbine Design Life to 25 Years, Targets 6-7% Lower LCOE

Beijing – October 15, 2026 -- SANY Renewable Energy is raising the design life of its wind turbines from 20 to 25 years, a change it estimates will lift generation profit by 56-58% over the operating period and cut levelized cost of energy (LCOE) by 6-7%. The company announced the upgrade at China Wind Power 2026.

SANY starts the 25-year upgrade with its 915 platform

The longer lifecycle debuts on the 915 platform. SANY says key components are being engineered and fatigue-tested for the full 25-year span, and select 6.X-11.X MW models are already certified for extended life.

The company puts the project-level gain at a 0.8 percentage point uplift in internal rate of return (IRR). It framed the upgrade as a response to market-based electricity pricing and grid integration pressure.

Kyiv – October 14, 2026 -- DoGo Power plans to deploy more than 200 smart grid-forming energy storage systems (ESS) across research bases and experimental farms of Ukraine's Institute of Horticulture of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences (IH NAAS), one of three cooperation agreements it reached at EcoEnergy Expo 2026.

Ukraine's 2030 storage target drives demand

Ukraine has set an official target of 1.5 to 2 GW of installed energy storage capacity by 2030. The country's agricultural supply chain is increasingly dependent on stable electricity and distributed energy resources, according to the company. That dependence is raising demand for storage integrated with agricultural production and research.

Argus Launches First RFNBO Ticket Price Assessments for Germany

London – October 14, 2026 -- Price reporting agency Argus has launched the first ticket price assessments for renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBOs) used in Germany's road transport sector, giving the emerging renewable hydrogen market a new benchmark.

Assessments cover RFNBO hydrogen, e-methanol and e-methane

The assessments reflect the value of RFNBO hydrogen and of products made from it, including e-methanol and e-methane. These fuels can be used to meet Germany's greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction rules.

Germany has introduced a dedicated RFNBO quota for road transport. The quota creates a mandated market for renewable hydrogen and related products and raises demand for transparent, independent price references.
