San Jose, Calif. – September 18, 2026 -- Trackonomy Systems has completed the acquisition of Identiv's IoT label business, creating Trackonomy Group, a vertically integrated Physical AI supply chain spanning semiconductors, smart labels, and end-to-end tracking solutions.
Three independent businesses now orchestrate nearly 20 million shipments daily
The newly formed group combines InPlay, a Bluetooth Low Energy semiconductor supplier; Identiv, a manufacturer of NFC-, RFID-, and BLE-enabled IoT labels; and Sentient, the original smart label pioneer with readers, label-application robotics, camera tunnels, and a cloud platform. Together, the three units process nearly 20 million shipments daily and are targeting more than 200 million connected assets.
Each unit retains its own customers and competes openly in its own market
InPlay will continue supplying BLE SoCs to device and label makers globally, while Identiv remains a customer-facing brand sourcing from multiple chip suppliers. Sentient continues serving logistics, aviation, healthcare, high-value goods, and defense customers, and remains one of the industry's largest buyers of chips and labels as demand outpaces manufacturing capacity.
CEO says the group will not merge the businesses into a single unit
Dr. Erik Volkerink, co-founder and chief executive officer of Trackonomy, said the combination gives the group a foundation to build the next generation of Physical AI without folding the businesses into one another. Manfred Mueller has been appointed CEO of the Identiv business and said the backing of the group will let Identiv broaden its product portfolio.
Group manufacturing footprint spans three factories and five R&D centers
Trackonomy Group's combined operations span three factories and five R&D centers across Asia, Europe, and the United States. Trackonomy has raised over $250 million from investors including 8VC, Kleiner Perkins, Koch Disruptive Technologies, and In-Q-Tel.
