Geneva – – September 28, 2026 -- Verisure has signed an exclusive partnership with US-based Ting Labs to commercialize an electrical fire prevention sensor across its European customer base, targeting a market where electrical faults cause 273,000 fires and €6.25 billion in property damage annually in the EU.
Ting Labs makes its first move into Europe after protecting 1.4 million U.S. homes
The deal marks Ting Labs' initial expansion outside North America, where its plug-in sensor already monitors more than 1.4 million homes and works with 40 insurance carriers. The device analyses 30 million electrical signals per second from a single outlet to detect arcing, an early warning sign of faults that can trigger fires, and pairs the data with expert support to resolve hazards before ignition.
Electrical faults account for up to 30% of domestic fires in Europe, industry data shows
According to the European Fire Safety Alliance and the Forum for European Electrical Domestic Safety, electrical faults are responsible for 25% to 30% of domestic fires across Europe. Verisure said internal customer data ranks fire risk among the top concerns driving demand for monitored home alarm subscriptions.
Sensor will integrate directly into Verisure's monitored alarm ecosystem
The Ting sensor will operate alongside Verisure's existing fire protection lineup, including Connected Smoke Alarms and AI-powered WiFi Vision, with alerts routed through Verisure's 24/7 Alarm Receiving Centre. The companies structured the deal as a co-development and licensing model: Ting Labs will adapt its firmware, cloud platform and fire safety tools for European homes, while Verisure will manufacture the sensor and manage sales, installation and customer support. The finished device will carry dual branding, marked "Powered by Ting."
Commercial rollout targeted for early 2027
Verisure CEO Austin Lally said the partnership creates a subscription-based offering designed to extend the company's protection beyond traditional security and safety products, strengthening its position across direct and partner sales channels. Ting Labs Cofounder and CEO Bob Marshall said Verisure's scale and customer relationships made it the right partner to extend the technology into a new market.
Move follows €170 million innovation spend in 2025
Verisure invested approximately €170 million in technology and innovation in 2025, aimed at developing new security products, driving usage growth and supporting premium pricing. The Ting Labs partnership is positioned as part of that broader innovation pipeline ahead of the 2027 European launch.
