Johannesburg – September 08, 2026 -- Zensar Technologies has signed a strategic technology transformation partnership with Konkola Copper Mines (KCM), one of Zambia's largest integrated copper producers, marking the Indian IT services firm's formal entry into the Zambian market.
KCM completes full service go-live in under seven weeks
The partnership has already reached a key milestone: all contracted services went live in less than seven weeks, establishing what both companies describe as a strong operational foundation for the next phase of KCM's transformation.
The engagement covers AI-enabled operations, intelligent automation, digital workplace services, infrastructure management, and modern technology platforms, aimed at improving operational resilience and user experience across KCM's enterprise.
Zensar onboards 15 Zambian professionals for local delivery
To support the engagement, Zensar has onboarded 15 Zambian professionals, a move the company frames as reinforcing local talent development and building sustainable in-country capabilities.
KCM links deal to Vedanta's $1.2 billion Zambia investment push
KCM is a subsidiary of Vedanta Resources Limited and operates mining and processing plants across four Zambian districts: Chingola, Chililabombwe, Kitwe and Nampundwe. Vedanta has pledged more than $1.2 billion in investment, including plans to unlock the Konkola Deep Mining Project in Chililabombwe and raise KCM's copper output to 300,000 tonnes per year by 2030.
Pushpender Singla, Executive Director of Konkola Copper Mines and Chief Financial Officer of CopperTech Metals, said Zensar demonstrated a deep understanding of the Africa mining sector and its operational challenges from the outset of the engagement.
Kaushik Chatterjee, Senior Vice President and Head of Africa at Zensar Technologies, said the partnership reflects a shared vision of using technology to create measurable business value while contributing to local capability development in Zambia.
The deal extends Zensar's footprint across Africa beyond existing operations, adding Zambia to its regional presence.
