Advantech, DEKRA Sign MOU as EU CRA Compliance Pressure Builds

Taipei – October 16, 2026 -- Advantech's AFE-E630 industrial edge system has received an Attestation of Conformity from DEKRA for IEC 62443-4-2 SL2 requirements, the first result of a new memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the two companies on industrial cybersecurity compliance.

The MOU, announced as the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) enters its implementation phase, targets industrial equipment and Edge AI products bound for global markets. The partners aim to help system integrators and end customers meet CRA requirements and international standards such as IEC 62443, cut compliance risk and shorten time to market.

Compliance work moves into the product design stage

Advantech and DEKRA will bring testing and certification expertise into early development. The scope covers technical and feasibility assessments, documentation review, certification preparation, vulnerability management and secure development support. The companies say this reduces the time and cost of late-stage design changes.

Miller Chang, President of Advantech's Embedded Sector, said compliance is evolving "from a certification procedure before product launch" into a design-stage consideration. DEKRA CEO Stan Zurkiewicz said DEKRA's role is to provide independent third-party assurance.

AFE-E630 clears IEC 62443-4-2 SL2 within assessed scope

The AFE-E630 is designed for commercial and industrial energy storage management. Its security functions meet IEC 62443-4-2 SL2 requirements within the assessed scope, following an independent DEKRA assessment. Customers can use the attestation as a reference for product integration and system-level compliance assessments.

Partners plan expansion into robotics, semiconductors and transportation

Advantech and DEKRA plan to extend the collaboration to AI-enabled industrial systems, semiconductor manufacturing, robotics, drones and other mission-critical unmanned systems. It will also cover energy site equipment and transportation management. They cite the growing interconnection of product safety, functional safety and cybersecurity requirements as Edge AI is integrated with physical devices.
