London and Boston – September 24, 2026 -- Basecamp Research has closed a $140 million oversubscribed Series C financing to train new EDEN foundation models and push a pipeline of AI-designed therapeutics toward clinical development.
S32 leads a syndicate spanning NVIDIA, Anthropic-adjacent backers and sovereign funds
The round was led by S32, with participation from NVIDIA, Menlo Ventures' Anthology Fund, Catalio Capital Management, European Tech Collective, Firebrand River Capital, Inception Fund, King Philanthropies, NATO Innovation Fund, PostScriptum, Redalpine, The Rockefeller Foundation, Singular, Sovereign AI and True Ventures. Andy Conrad, General Partner at S32 and former CEO of Google's Verily, joins Basecamp's Board of Directors.
Capital targets in vivo cell therapy as the first clinical application
Basecamp is applying its EDEN biological foundation model to in vivo cell therapy, reprogramming a patient's cells directly inside the body rather than through ex vivo manufacturing that today costs hundreds of thousands of dollars per patient. The platform pairs EDEN's design of long, complex DNA sequences with large serine recombinases capable of precise genomic integration, targeting broader applications in cancer and autoimmune disease.
The company reports strong preclinical results across multiple modalities and disease areas. To scale pharmaceutical partnerships, Basecamp has appointed Richard Pearce, formerly of Biogen, as Chief Business Officer.
Trillion Gene Atlas underpins model training across 30-plus countries
Basecamp's EDEN models are trained on the Trillion Gene Atlas, described as the world's largest proprietary biological AI training dataset, built with partners including NVIDIA, Anthropic, PacBio and Ultima Genomics. The data was collected through access and benefit-sharing partnerships spanning more than 30 countries across all seven continents.
Basecamp's collaboration with Anthropic on Claude Science has already demonstrated the models generating therapeutic candidates directly from disease-related data, with EDEN's design capabilities extending to cell and gene therapies, enzymes and peptides.
André Hoffmann, Vice-Chairman of Roche and an individual investor in the round, said personalised, AI-designed therapeutics represent the next transformation in medicine following the biotechnology revolution of the past fifty years.
Glen Gowers, co-founder and CEO of Basecamp Research, said the funding moves AI-based therapeutic design closer to patients who currently have few treatment alternatives.
